🇺🇸 US Address Validation Strategy – Oracle Fusion HCM

 

1️⃣ Enable – Activate Full Address Verification

Navigation:

Setup and Maintenance → Features by Country or Territory → United States

Set:

Address Validation Method = Full Address Verification Service

If the field is not available:

Run:

Run Feature Upgrade

• Do NOT select LDG

• Feature: Enable Enhanced Address Validation for US

Then run:

Load Geographies for US

This installs the updated Oracle geography dataset.

🔎 What Does Enabling This Feature Do?

It enhances the HCM address framework by:

• Updating address components in HR flows and address maintenance UI

• Enabling:

  • Address search in UI

  • Address verification in UI

  • Address verification via HDL

  • Address validation flows

• Loading updated US geography data

• Enabling geospatial coordinate capture

In short: it activates USPS-based intelligent validation across the system.

2️⃣ Prepare – Run Address Validation Process (Draft Mode)

Navigation:

My Client Groups → Submit Flow → Address Validation Process

Required Parameters:

Optional Parameters:

• Modified Address Date (From / To)

• Person

• Location

• Payroll Relationship Group

🔎 What Does the Draft Mode Do?

In default mode, the process:

• Picks up all Unverified addresses

• That are active on or after Jan 1 of the current year

• Runs USPS verification

• Generates a validation output report

• Does NOT commit changes

This allows review before system updates anything.

⚠ Important:
Once run in Final mode, addresses are no longer “Unverified” and will not be reprocessed using default parameters.

3️⃣ Validate – Review Validation Report

After Draft process completion:

Download and review the Address Validation Report

Use the Validation Status Codes column to filter records.

🚨 Error Codes (Must Fix)

Codes starting with:

HRX_US_AE%

These represent address errors, such as:

• Missing premise number

• Missing street name

• Invalid city/state/ZIP

• USPS rejected address

These addresses must be corrected in the application before proceeding.

Examples you should NOT leave unresolved:

• HRX_US_AE01

• HRX_US_AE02

• HRX_US_AE03

• HRX_US_AE05

• HRX_US_AE07

• HRX_US_AE10

• HRX_US_AE11

✅ Validation Status Codes

Codes starting with:

HRX_US_AV%

These indicate validation quality:

• Full match

• Partial match

• ZIP-level match

• Corrected address suggestion

These are informational but should be reviewed carefully.

4️⃣ Cleanse – Correct and Reprocess

Steps:

1. Correct invalid addresses in:

   • Person records

   • Location records

2. Re-run Address Validation Process in Draft mode

3. Ensure no AE-type errors remain

4. Run process in:

Final Mode

🔎 What Final Mode Does

• Commits validated addresses

• Updates validation status

• Stores geospatial coordinates

• Marks addresses as verified

• Prevents reprocessing under default parameters

This finalizes your address database.

📌 Special USPS ZIP Code Note

Some ZIP codes are assigned to:

• Universities

• Large corporations

• Government entities

These have:

PostalCode Type = U (Unique)

In such cases:

• Address Line 1 or 2 may be ignored during USPS validation

• Validation may still succeed despite limited detail
