With Oracle Connections, employees can:

  • Quickly search and find coworkers using powerful filters and Oracle Search.

  • View detailed profiles with information like work location and time zone to make scheduling easier.

  • Enhance their own profiles with skills, interests, and more to improve collaboration opportunities.

  • Use Favorites to mark key colleagues and grow a personal career network.

  • Explore assignments and expertise to identify common ground and collaboration opportunities.

  • See organizational structure through interactive org charts.

  • Give and receive feedback (depending on your role) to encourage recognition and continuous improvement.

๐Ÿ› ️ How to Set Up Oracle Connections

To enable Connections in Oracle HCM, a few steps are required:

✅ Prerequisites

  • Enable the Workforce Deployment offering.

  • Set the following profile options:

    • HCM_RESPONSIVE_PAGES_ENABLED = Y

    • HCM_CONNECTIONS_ENABLED = Y

๐Ÿ”Ž Enable Oracle Search

Configure these settings to power the search capabilities in Connections:

  • ORA_FND_SEARCH_EXT_ENABLED (Enable External Search Framework)

  • HRC_ELASTIC_SEARCH_ENABLED (Enable Elastic Search for HCM)

Run the ESS job:

  • Job NameESS job to create index definition and perform initial ingest to OSCS

  • Index Namesfa-hcm-personfa-hcm-profile-tag

    • ORA_HRC_HUMAN_CAPITAL_MANAGEMENT_INTEGRATION_SPECIALIST_JOB

    • ORA_HRT_ACCESS_SKILLS_CENTER

    • ORA_PER_CONNECTIONS_DUTY

    Abstract Roles with Access:

    • ORA_PER_CONTINGENT_WORKER_ABSTRACT

    • ORA_PER_EMPLOYEE_ABSTRACT

    To run ingestion jobs:

    • FND_MANAGE_SCHEDULED_JOB_DEFINITION_PRIV
      (via roles like ORA_FND_APPLICATION_ADMINISTRATOR_JOB or ORA_FND_APPLICATION_DEVELOPER_JOB)
